Welcome to my about me page.
About me, Lindsey & the Blog
Hi, I’m Lindsey and I am a mom of seven children and a wife to an incredibly amazing & handsome man. I inherited four daughters and had three little ones with my hubby. I am also a working stay-at-home mama. As you can see we have a large blended family and they all keep my husband and I very busy. Starting with our oldest being 23 all the way down to our 4 year old. They are our heartbeats and alongside our beautiful marriage, they are the reason we keep going every day.
A Mama of Seven Blog aids in providing creative resources for moms, especially for stay-at-home moms. The content that is shared on the blog focuses on a mamas self-care journey throughout motherhood, giving essential tips on how to maintain personal care, along with focusing on engaging and connecting with your children through various activities, and tips & ideas on marriage maintenance.
A little Story
As I sat in the corner of the bathroom floor with my head barricaded in my knees, exhausted and in tears, (the kids were in the bed sleep) my husband found me and told me to take time for myself. I replied, “how can I, our children need me?” As he cleaned out the bathtub and ran water and poured my favorite bubble bath soap he went on to ask me, “how can you expect to take care of your children when you haven’t taken the time to care for yourself?” He proceeded to ask me what do the flight attendant tell you when they give instructions in case of an emergency? The flight attendant instructs you to grab your oxygen mask and put it on you first so that you can have the strength to help someone else put theirs on as well. What good are you if you run out of oxygen first!?!? You can’t be and won’t be able to help anyone else survive the day.” He was right, and usually I’ll have an emotional excuse deflecting what advice he gave, but I couldn’t this time. He was so right. If I continue down this route of not taking care of myself, I’ll be working to take care of my family on empty and I’ll be no good for them. At that moment, I had to choose myself first for once to refuel and pour back into myself to have the strength to take care of my little ones. It’s still not easy, but I’ve found some self-care resources that have helped me stay consistent and helped me manage to push through the guilt. As mothers we don’t realize the true benefit in self-care, not only do it refuel us, but it also over a period of time, teaches our little ones the importance of self-care and maintaining their health as they grow. Our children mimic majority of everything we do and if they see us taking time to refuel, they will follow that example as well. Self-care also allows us to rejuvenate physically, mentally, and emotionally and gives us the strength we need to keep pouring our selfless love in our family.
I needed to find resources that aided in providing me other means of self-care and I’ll share those resources with you here on my blog so that you can develop your own sense of self-care tactics. In addition I decided to utilize blogging as a form of self-care and allow it to be ‘like’ therapy. My love language is words, especially affirmations, and blogging is just another way for me to creatively stay positive build & uplift my spirits daily. I want to give hope to other stay-at-home mamas throughout their motherhood, self-care, and married life journey.
